The use of national college admission tests to assess the achievement of state high school learning standards and high school accountability has become a growing phenomenon in American education. Yet, although this test application has been adopted by a number of states, there has been little independent analysis and evaluation of its appropriateness and validity for all constituents.
This CEEP Special Report is intended to frame a series of key baseline issues (and offer corresponding recommendations) for state policymakers, practitioners, and researchers as they consider and evaluate the current and/or future use of traditional admission tests to assess achievement and accountability.

When should I visit a college?

It's not a bad idea to stop by a campus when you are in the area any time from Ninth Grade on, and take the official tour. However, in terms of the college admission process, your first set of campus visits should occur during spring break junior year, and continue through the summer. During the fall of senior year, try to schedule overnight visits in a residence hall at the schools which most interest you.

Census Bureau Reports Nearly 6 in 10 Advanced Degree Holders Age 25-29 Are Women

The U.S. Census Bureau reported today more women than men are expected to occupy professions such as doctors, lawyers and college professors as they represent approximately 58 percent of young adults, age 25 to 29, who hold an advanced degree. In addition, among all adults 25 and older, more women than men had high school diplomas and bachelor's degrees.

ATLANTA (AP) — The University of Georgia won a national title this year — top party school.

The Princeton Review announced Monday that Georgia is the No. 1 party school on its now infamous annual ranking. The school of about 30,000 students has been on the list 10 times since the ranking was created in 1992, but this is the first time the university has taken the top spot.
