Northwest Missouri State University Maryville, MO - Originally established as a two-year normal school in 1905, Northwest Missouri State University is a state-assisted, four-year regional university that also offers graduate degree programs. Located in Maryville, the 370-acre campus is 90 miles from Kansas City; 100 miles from Omaha, Nebraska, and 140 miles southwest of Des Moines, Iowa. The University owns a 450-acre farm and participates in the management of a lakefront area east of Maryville. The 2008-09 enrollment was 7, 000. Northwest has 250 full-time faculty and approximately 550 support and professional staff. Undergraduate students can select from more than 100 majors at Northwest, 70 minors and 19 pre-professional degree programs. There are 42 graduate degree offerings, two specialist and five certificate programs.
